SUMMER FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM 2018

MANDATORY PARENT MEETING Wednesday June 6 @ 7:00PM @ Xavier Auditorium

This summer, we will offering a two-week summer faith formation program as an alternative to the Wednesday night sessions.  Families that participate in this program, will also be invited to attend our 6 monthly sessions throughout the year called "Generations of Faith".  These intergenerational sessions will be offered on the first Sunday after the 8:30AM Mass and the following Wednesday from 6:30PM-8:00PM of each of the 6 months (need only attend one of the two days each month).  Both children and their parents will attend these sessions in order to continue their faith development throughout the year. All sessions will take place in the Xavier Auditorium.

WHAT IS TOTUS TUUS?

The Totus Tuus parish summer catechetical program, a week-long “parish mission” for Catholic youth in the 1st through 12th grades, is dedicated to proclamation of the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through evangelization, catechesis, apologetics, Christian witness, the sacraments, Marian devotion, and Eucharistic worship.

Totus Tuus seeks to inspire in young people a true longing for holiness, a deep desire for daily conversion, and an openness to their vocation by challenging them to give themselves entirely to Jesus Christ through Mary and by continually strengthening their prayer lives in imitation of Her.

The Totus Tuus program has divided the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church into a six year cycle. Additionally, each summer is dedicated to the mysteries of the Rosary. In 2017, Totus Tuus will cover the Mystery of Salvation and the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children ages 3 to 6 are invited to participate in our Children's Liturgy during the 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Francis Xavier Basilica. The Parish uses a popular children's resource, Growing with the Gospel, which is designed to give the youngest members in our parish fun activities that will help them understand and remember the Sunday message.
Each weekly issue includes four reproducible pages of fun activities in different formats featuring:

  • A theme activity to share with parents

  • Short lesson and a prayer

  • Mission for the Week to encourage kids to live the Gospel all week

  • Picture to color

  • Puzzle
