Confirmation

Jesus poured out the Holy Spirit upon the apostles on Pentecost, strengthening them to go out and proclaim his works to the world. Like them, we are called to live as active, spirit-filled disciples of Jesus. In the Sacrament of Confirmation our bond with Jesus Christ and the Church is strengthened by the Holy Spirit. We open ourselves to cooperation with the ever-present Spirit in a life of ongoing conversion within the faith-filled community.

Typically, students in their sophomore year of high school participate in a year-long program of intense preparation for confirmation. This counts as the second year of a two year process; the first of which is completed through regular attendance at either Faith Formation sessions on Wednesday nights or enrollment at Beckman Catholic High School. During this second year of preparation, there are twelve hours of catechesis separate from the Faith Formation or religion classes held throughout the year taking place on Sunday mornings after 8:30 a.m. Mass in the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier. This entails reflective journaling, community service, a time of retreat, and a night of reflection with their sponsors and culminates in the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation in late Spring.

9:30-11:00 a.m., directly following 8:30 a.m. Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier

Adult Confirmation

Are you or someone you know interested in being confirmed in the Catholic faith as an adult?

Catholic-Adult Confirmation

We understand that for various reasons, Catholics will sometimes fall out of the traditional time frame for being confirmed in the Catholic Church. Usually these individuals will inquire about being confirmed due to being asked to be a godparent for a child, or because they are preparing to be married. And so, each summer in the Spires of Faith, there is an opportunity for such Catholic adults to meet and to discuss the importance of Confirmation and then to be fully initiated into their Catholic Faith by the reception of the Sacrament. Sessions vary depending on the year and interest.

RCIA

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of weekly gatherings for those who are not yet Catholic but are thinking about professing their faith in the Catholic Church.  The process begins with a period of inquiry, as well as weekly presentations and discussions about what Catholics believe, how we worship, and how we live our lives based on our faith.  At the end of the process, those who are not yet baptized are initiated into the Catholic faith through the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist; those who are already baptized as a Christian are brought into full communion with the Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist.

Meeting Times:
Most Tuesday nights,
6:30-8:00 p.m.
