Once a young woman starts her cycle, it can take, on average, 3-5 years until her periods become regular and fairly predictable.  Learning how to chart during these years can help her learn her body's unique patterns, identify cyclic mood changes and help her be comfortable in her changing body.

If you are interested in helping your daughter start charting and have a healthy appreciation for the changes her body will be going through during these preteen/teenage years, check out these resources available through Pearl and Thistle that help parents navigate this time with their daughters.

  • Cycle Charting for Girls: invites preteens and teens to grow in body literacy and self-knowledge through learning to observe their unique menstrual cycle, gaining lifelong health skills, and growing in appreciation and respect for the natural design of their bodies.
  • Anatomy, Fertility, & Reproduction for Teens (Ages 16+): a 6-part video series you can watch at home with your teenage son/daughter, where you hear a professional voice explain the facts about biology, sex, and reproduction, in the context of God's plan for marriage and respect for the dignity of our bodies. It's specifically written for teens, 10th grade and up.

If you are interested in an in-person cycle prep session for you and your daughter or a group of moms/daughters, please contact your NFP Ambassador Chelsea Evett regarding in-person Group Workshops & Private Parties.
