Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism makes one a member of the body of Christ and incorporates them into the Church, forever sharing in its mission. Those baptized are purified from sin and are reborn by water and the Holy Spirit. The Catholic Church baptizes people of all ages.
Infant Baptism
FIRST BAPTISM CLASS. For first-time parents wanting their infant to be baptized, the Church offers formation and catechesis in preparation for the baptism of their child. Only one baptism preparation class is required. Those wishing to have their child baptized are even encouraged to attend a class prior to birth of their child. Both parents are expected to attend. The course covers the theology of Baptism, the explanation of the Rite, and the role of godparents or sponsors. There will be a brief video to watch before the class. To register for the Baptism class, parents are invited to contact their parish office.

BAPTISM 2.0. For second-time parents, the Spires of Faith offers something more! Not just another baptism class, this course looks to help prepare couples for the challenges and joys of an expanding family. It's taught by two married couples, both of whom are parents and who understand the challenges of raising children in the Catholic faith. They will cover the theology of the family, different practical tools to help build up the faith at home, and discuss many of the common concerns that are on the minds and hearts of young, Catholic parents. So far, we've found that couples have really enjoyed the opportunity to meet and talk to other parents in the parishes. Again, only one meeting is required.
To register for a Baptism 2.0 class, parents are invited to contact their parish office.

OCIA
Adult Baptism
OCIA. Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (or OCIA) is a process of weekly gatherings for those who are not yet Catholic but are thinking about professing their faith in the Catholic Church. The process begins with a period of inquiry, as well as weekly presentations and discussions about what Catholics believe, how we worship, and how we live our lives based on our faith. At the end of the process, those who are not yet baptized are initiated into the Catholic faith through the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist.
If you are not baptized and are interested in the Catholic faith, call to inquire about learning more.

Children's Initiation
OCIC - Every year the cluster provides an opportunity for children who have not been baptized, and who are at least five years old, to receive faith formation through our Children Initiation program. We understand that, for various reasons, children will sometimes fall out of the traditional time frame for being baptized; yet baptism is necessary for them to receive Communion for the first time, as well as beginning their life as a member of the Body of Christ.
